This is my mug project. In this project I learned how to make a handle and attach it to my cylender. I used color to create an organic, earthy look to my project. And I also used harmony within the glazes to show how they work together and add to the organic look of the piece. Because of the white and green glaze running down the sides, it reminds me of a forest in the winter because of how the colors run and look compared to each other.
These are two plates that I made using clear glaze, sea mix, and glass. In these plates I learned how to properly incorporate glass into my project. This was my first time using glass and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I used color and texture in the glass to show emphasis and personality. The glass and the simple clear glaze give it a clean and sophisticated look. This is my tall project I used staining and pulling to create bumpy walls and unique looking glaze. In this project I learned how to shape the wall to make it something other than smooth. The walls of my project are lumpy and bumpy. I used shape to show movement by adding detailed glazing and shaping the walls. These elements express a funky and unique mood that I'm really proud of! This is the first bowl I made on the wheel. It is a medium size and has a really smooth and classic surface. The top of the bowl and the top of the inside of the bowl is flawed and a little runny which I think adds to the relaxed mood. New skills I had to learn in order to make this project were dip glazing which turned out really well and pin tooling the top to make it not lopsided. An art element I used is lines with the black glaze and the clear glaze against the yellowish color of the fired clay and in the rim of the bowl. A design element I used was the emphasis of the top of the bowl with the black glaze on the outside and the clear glaze on the inside of the bowl. The classic look of the bowl and the imperfect glaze on the rim adds to the comfortable and relaxed mood of the bowl while the black clay emphasizes the contrast of the piece. |
