This is a mug I created by making a small bowl, pulling a handle, and attaching the handle. I glazed it with dark green glaze and white glaze. I used the glaze to create dimension and movement to the piece because of how the glaze ran. The running greenish blue glaze gives it a wavy natural moving look.
Kiaja created the middle, Kevin made the bottom, and I made the top. I had to dive all the way to the bat and tried to create a vaseish top. We glazed it in light blue and dark green which gave it a very organic, natural look. The coil at the top also adds a lot of character to the piece. We used shape to give it a wonky and silly look. This is a big bowl I threw on the wheel and used white and black glaze. This is the biggest project I've thrown and in order to make it I need to learn to pull the wall tall but not let it get thin enough that it collapses. I used glaze to create a contrast between the white side and the black side. The black and white with little speckles of white in the black makes it look like a yin yang sign. I didn't mean to make it look like a yin yang sign but I like that it looks like that. This is my lidded project. I threw a vase on the wheel and used calipers to measure the rim which I then used to throw a lid that fit the vase. I used dark blue and white glaze. The contrast of the white clearish glaze gives it a dramatic look. I used glazing to create a dark surface and a light surface which adds to the dramatic contrast of the piece. I'm very happy with how it fit together and how it turned out! This is a big bowl I made on the wheel. I used burnt orange and white. I learned how to dip and spin the bowl to give it a flawed look. I used color to show balance in the project. The burnt orange and white bleeding into each other and creating an uneven look makes it seem effortless and organic at the same time. This is my planter. The form is simply and smooth and the color is fuzzy and dark at the top and white at the bottom. I used turquoise at the top and white all over. I learned how to make two walls for my planter. I used value to create a contrast within the top and bottom of my project. The top is dark and dramatic while the bottom is light and simple. The fuzzy tone of the top gives it a cloudy look that reminds me of a waterfall because of the white in the dark color. This is my wheel altered project. It is a medium sized bowl molded into a squarish wavy bowl. I used white and turquoise to glaze this project and it is smooth. I used the white all over and the turquoise around the top and rim of my project. I learned how to shape a wheel bowl into something else. I used form to create movement. The wavy rim creates a smooth and imperfect movement within the piece. The wavy top is much like the ocean because it's waves are not perfect and the colors show the deep greenish bluish water. This is my set of three. I decided to make three bowls because I enjoy making them and because they are easy to glaze in a pretty way. I made two medium sized bowls and one taller bowl. They are smooth and simply with a turquoise and white glaze. I dipped the bowls in white and then blue to make the colors run which is a new skill I've learned. I used glaze to create a contrast with the top and bottom of the bowl and make it look blocky and the way the glaze runs gives it an imperfect quirky look. The way I glazed it makes me think of moss because of the colors and how it almost looks fuzzy. It is very naturish and earthy. This is the second bowl I've made on the wheel. I used red stain to fill in little dimples I made on the edge of the bowl. I glazed clear over that and it is smooth and very simple and cute. I used color and texture to cut out pieces of the bowl and make it a little more unique. This adds contrast to it which adds to the fun and cute mood of the bowl! This is my cup project. I made a cylender on the wheel then added glass to it. My project has a smooth texture and is very clean and simple but the glass adds a fun pop too it. I used contrast in this piece to emphasize the glass and colors in this piece. I also used color to emphasize the fun and bright look of the piece. This cup is fun and bright and I'm very happy with it! |
